ACS Infectious Diseases is planning to publish a Special Issue titled “Infectious Disease Research in China” in early 2020, headed up by Zhiyong Lou, an Associate Editor of the journal and a Professor at Tsinghua University.
The Special Issue welcomes first and/or corresponding authors located in China to submit research on pathogens, host–pathogen interactions, therapeutics, vaccines, diagnostics, and other aspects of infectious diseases.

About Infectious Diseases in China
Although the spread of infectious diseases in China has declined significantly since the 1960s, local outbreaks are still common. Just consider the 2003 SARS-CoV outbreak, which caused the Chineese government to heavily invest in research on infectious diseases, pathogens, and anti-infectives along with a new surveillance system.
Since then, research centers and projects have emerged across the country that have supported global health efforts. Most notably, Youyou Tu was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine in 2015 for her contributions on the discovery of artemisinin, a drug for malaria that has saved millions of lives across the globe.
