ACS Publications and the Award Committee are excited to announce the recipients of the ACS Publications Travel Grant for Librarians and Library School Students to attend the 255th ACS National Meeting & Exposition in New Orleans: April Colosimo of McGill University and Chapel Cowden of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
April Colosimo, McGill University
April Colosimo is an associate librarian at the Schulich Library of Physical Sciences, Life Sciences, and Engineering, McGill University (Montreal, Quebec).Colosimo obtained her MLIS from McGill, and also holds a MSc in microbiology and infectious diseases from Université de Sherbrooke. Her current research is focused on e-learning strategies and technologies. (ORCiD)
Chapel Cowden, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
Chapel Cowden holds an M.S. in Information Science from the University of Tennessee Knoxville where she focused on bioinformatics and resources for the scientific disciplines. Since 2013, she has been the Health & Science Librarian at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has recently added the role of Liaison Coordinator to her diverse tasks.Cowden is passionate about applying mechanisms to promote critical thinking and the construction of authentic learning environments into her instruction classroom, with the belief that we should strive to prepare students not only for “what’s now” but for “what’s next”. She greatly enjoys giving back to her profession through conference presentations and journal publications and equally enjoys chairing the ACRL Science & Technology Professional Development Committee and serving on the ACRL STS Hot Topics committee.
Colosimo and Cowden will be sharing their experiences from the Spring National Meeting in future ACS Axial articles.
