From March 18 to 22, 2018, New Orleans will become the center of the chemistry and science universe as the American Chemical Society celebrates its 255th ACS National Meeting & Exposition. This year’s theme, “Nexus of Food, Energy & Water,” brings together international chemists to discuss interdependencies among the three systems and the role of chemists in ensuring food, water, and energy security for an ever-growing global population. Thousands of chemical professionals, educators, and students from around the world will gather for a five-day meeting packed with learning and networking opportunities.

The theme will be integrated into the highly anticipated Kavli Lectures, which promotes groundbreaking discovery and public understanding of the world’s mounting challenges and how chemistry can provide solutions. Lecture attendees will be able to hear Dr. Angela M. Belcher, Professor of Biological Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), speak about “Giving New Life To Materials For Energy, The Environment And Medicine.” In addition, Kavli Foundation Emerging Leader in Chemistry Dr. Emily D. Cranston will speak on “Transforming Nanocellulose into Sustainable Products Through Surface Engineering.”
