We will be having a special award ceremony for the winner of the 2017 James J. Morgan ES&T Early Career Award Lectureship. This year’s recipient is Professor Meagan S. Mauter from Carnegie Mellon University. The award, along with Prof. Mauter’s lecture, will be presented at the Spring 2017 ACS National Meeting in San Francisco as part of the ES&T Symposium and the ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry program. This is the second time that the James J. Morgan ES&T Early Career Award Lectureship has been awarded.

This award recognizes the contributions of early career researchers who have led our field in new directions through creative, new ideas consistent with Dr. Morgan’s early contributions. Prof. Mauter’s work focuses on seeking novel approaches to meeting water supply requirements in a sustainable fashion in an energy-constrained world. She seeks to re-think the policies surrounding water treatment, re-define the inputs to the treatment process, and re-envision the membranes in membrane-based water treatment processes.

In addition to Prof. Mauter’s lecture, join the ES&T and ES&T Letters Editors and Associate Editors and meet some of the winning authors of the ES&T 2015 Best Papers of the Year: Best Paper in Environmental Science author Kimberly Prather, UCSD, and Best Paper in Environmental Policy author Noelle Selin, MIT. Join your colleagues for this once-a-year event, as part of your experience at the 2017 ACS National Meeting in San Francisco.
