Distinguished Professor Sukbok Chang of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology received the “Korea Best Scientist and Engineer Award” in July 2019. This is the most prestigious award for a scientist or an engineer in South Korea, given by the Korean government each year since 1963. Professor Chang won the award in recognition of his pioneering works and lifetime achievement in C-H bond activation and its synthetic application.

Sukbok Chang joined ACS Catalysis as an Associate Editor in 2015. He also serves on the Editorial Advisory Boards of The Journal of Organic Chemistry, Journal of the American Chemical Society, and Accounts of Chemical Research. He has published more than 40 research articles in ACS Publications journals.

Vice President of Samsung Electronics, Ki-Nam Kim, also received the award this year. They each received ₩ 300 million (~$250,000 USD) with an accompanying presidential commendation.
