Highlighting Articles from Chinese Chemists in Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research

“Over the years, there have been many, many contributions to Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research (I&EC Research) made by researchers in China. We are pleased to have four Associate Editors based in China, at Tianjin University and Zhejiang University, who are leading researchers in their fields. We also have many editorial advisory board members from institutions in China, and we appreciate their engagement with the journal and count on their advice to ensure continued success and effective service to the community. Of course, we would have no journal were it not for our authors and reviewers, and we recognize that researchers in China constitute a very large portion of our authors, reviewers, and readers. We are grateful to have this strong level of support for I&EC Research from the Chinese research community in chemical engineering and applied chemistry.

Accordingly, I am delighted to introduce a new virtual issue of I&EC Research that highlights selected articles from China recently published in 2018 and 2019. These 40 articles come from 27 different institutions and they span the entire broad scope of the journal. The articles describe advances in catalysis, applied chemistry, bioengineering, composite materials, CO2 capture, electrochemical engineering, membrane separations, process intensification, polymer synthesis, process optimization, and ionic liquids. This collection is merely a cross-section of the excellent chemical engineering research targeting the pressing societal issues of today (e.g., energy storage, clean water, renewable energy, greenhouse gases, energy conservation) being done in China and published in I&EC Research. We invite our colleagues in China, and globally, to continue sending their best research manuscripts for publication in I&EC Research, which is a journal that has been at the forefront of chemical engineering research since 1909.”
