The search is on for the next editor-in-chief of ACS Chemical Biology, and the search committee seeks input from the community to help build a broad, diverse candidate pool.

Nomination Deadline: July 9, 2021

Inaugural Editor-in-Chief Professor Laura Kiessling will be completing her service at the end of this year. Under her leadership, ACS Chemical Biology has grown to be one of the most well-respected journals in the field. The incoming editor-in-chief will develop and implement their vision to carry forward the journal’s commitment to publishing top-quality science and inclusively representing the chemical biology community.

ACS editors-in-chief are active, accomplished researchers within the international scientific community served by the journal. They have the scientific insight to know where the field is going and to assemble and lead a team of associate editors representing the scientific and demographic distribution of the field. Previous editorial experience is valued but is not a requisite for assuming the role of editor-in-chief.

Selecting an ACS Publications journal’s editor-in-chief has typically been “a highly confidential process,” wrote Professor Nicole Sampson in her July 2020 ACS Axial post “Selecting a New Editor-in-Chief: Search Committee Insight.” The process opened up considerably when the search committee for the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) and JACS Au, chaired by Professor Sampson, invited nominations and self-nominations from across the global chemistry community.

The search committee for the next ACS Chemical Biology editor-in-chief has been convened and is conducting its search in accordance with ACS Bylaws and Regulations. The search committee invites nominations, including self-nominations, from the global chemical biology community, of qualified candidates to include in its consideration process.
