The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS Publications) is pleased to announce that Professor Jennifer S. Brodbelt, of the University of Texas at Austin, USA, has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry (JASMS).

JASMS is a monthly, peer-reviewed journal that covers all aspects of mass spectrometry and other fields of scientific inquiry in which mass spectrometry can play a role, both in applications and fundamentals. Professor Brodbelt stepped into the role on February 1, 2025, and will build upon the legacy of success for this journal, which is published in partnership with the American Society for Mass Spectrometry.

“I am excited about the opportunity to lead the journal and will strive to increase the metrics of JASMS and further elevate its status and impact as the premier mass spectrometry journal,” said Professor Brodbelt. “JASMS has established a strong reputation, and there is room for growth and new strategies to expand both readership and submissions."

Prior to her new role, Professor Brodbelt has served as an Associate Editor for JASMS from 2007-2025 and as President of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry from 2014-2016.

“We’re proud to welcome Professor Brodbelt as the Editor-in-Chief of JASMS and confident she will build upon the successes of this wonderful partnership,” said ACS Publications Senior Vice President and Chief Publishing Officer Sarah Tegen, Ph.D. “It’s our privilege to work alongside the American Society for Mass Spectrometry to showcase the very best science in this field.”

Professor Brodbelt is the Larry R. Faulkner Departmental Chair for Excellence in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and the Rowland Pettit Centennial Chair in Chemistry, at the University of Texas at Austin, US. She also served as the Director of Graduate Education in the Department of Chemistry for more than 20 years and became Chairperson in 2019.
