This Special Issue will highlight the relevant contributions that scientists in Africa and the Middle East are making in the fields of Multiomics—specifically Proteomics, Metabolomics and Lipidomics. Submit your manuscript by June 30, 2025.

For many years, multiomics analysis was essentially limited to two continents: Europe and North America. Indeed, significant developments in proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics are still linked to well-established macroeconomic infrastructures that enable the development and acquisition of expensive instruments (such as high-resolution mass spectrometers and NRMs). Fortunately, during the last decade, we have witnessed a shift in how other countries throughout the world have begun to prioritise scientific research including multiomics-related areas. Many consider this to be a significant "game changer" in terms of addressing world variety and incorporating many living organisms (e.g., viruses, bacteria, plants, and animals) and human ethnic groups that were previously absent from major omics databases. As a transformative platform, the Journal of Proteome Research (JPR) aims to expedite the incorporation of the uniqueness of omics data acquired from research performed in Africa and the Middle East. The goal of this Special Issue is to provide a timely and relevant overview of the multiomics contributions being made across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Disease Biomarkers
  • Biodiversity and climate change
  • Methods and Protocols

Authors interested in submitting their work are encouraged to refer to the recent Editorial on Publishing in JPR, which provides detailed guidance on the specific requirements and preferences for submissions.
