Wearable sensors represent a cutting-edge frontier in the convergence of healthcare, technology, and data science. These devices, seamlessly integrated into clothing or directly worn on or implanted into the body, offer unprecedented opportunities for continuous monitoring of physiological parameters, environmental conditions, and physical activity. The advancements in wearable sensor technologies have the potential to revolutionize health monitoring, fitness tracking, environmental hazard assessment, disease management, preventive care and even early medical diagnosis by providing precise, real-time and continuous data.

This Special Issue in ACS Sensors aims to serve as a premier platform for the scientific community to showcase their high-quality research in the field of wearable sensors and bring together researchers, engineers, and practitioners to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and drive forward the innovation and application of wearable sensor technologies. We welcome contributions that explore fundamental principles, new materials, innovative sensor designs, advanced data analytics, and applications that push the boundaries of what wearable sensors can achieve and encourage submissions that provide insights into the challenges and future directions in the field.

We invite submissions on all topics related to wearable sensors, including (but not limited to):

  • New materials or new structures for wearable sensors
  • Design of wearable sensors with new or enhanced functions, including but not limited to physical and chemical sensors, and multi-mode devices
  • Fabrication techniques of wearable sensors and systems, including but not limited to body patches, textile and fiber sensors, and their integrated smart systems.
  • Integration of wearable sensing systems
  • Energy harvesting and power management for wearable sensors
  • Data processing, analysis techniques, machine learning and AI techniques for wearable sensors
  • Innovative applications of wearable sensors
  • Security and privacy issues related to wearable sensors
