Bioconjugate Chemistry invites submissions to our upcoming Special Issue on “Targeted Protein and Nucleic Acid Degradation: From Molecular Design to Therapeutic Translation,” highlighting advances at the intersection of chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, bioconjugation, and therapeutic development.

Targeted protein and nucleic acid degradation has emerged as a transformative strategy for modulating biological systems and treating disease. Approaches such as PROTACs, molecular glues, lysosome-targeting chimeras (LYTACs), autophagy-targeting chimeras (AUTACs), Ribonuclease-Targeting Chimeras (RIBOTACs), Proximity-Induced Nucleic Acid Degrader (PINAD), and related technologies are redefining how researchers address challenging biological targets. Bioconjugate chemistry is playing an increasingly important role in enabling these modalities through the design of novel conjugation strategies, targeted delivery systems, biomolecular engineering, and mechanistic investigations.

This Special Issue seeks original Research Articles, Communications, Reviews, and Viewpoints that advance our understanding of targeted protein degradation and the technologies that enable it.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • PROTACs, molecular glues, and induced-proximity therapeutics
  • Emerging targeted protein degradation modalities
  • Antibody-, peptide-, oligonucleotide-, and protein-based degraders
  • RIBOTACs, PINAD, and related technologies
  • Bioconjugation approaches for degrader design and delivery
  • Novel ligands, linkers, and conjugation chemistries
  • AI-guided degrader design
  • Imaging and tracking of degradation pathways
  • Mechanistic and chemical biology studies of protein degradation
  • Translational and therapeutic applications of protein degraders

We welcome submissions for this Special Issue through April 30, 2027. For more information on submission requirements, please visit the journal’s Author Guidelines page.

Accepted manuscripts for consideration in this Special Issue will include Research Articles, Communications, Reviews, and Viewpoints. Papers accepted for publication in this Special Issue will be available ASAP (as soon as publishable) online. After all submissions have been published, they will then be compiled online on a dedicated landing page to form the Special Issue. Manuscripts submitted for consideration will undergo the full rigorous peer-review process expected from ACS journals.
