ACS Synthetic Biology is pleased to announce that Dr. Wilson Wong, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Boston University, is the recipient of this year’s 2018 ACS Synthetic Biology Young Innovator Award.
This award, established in 2014, honors the contributions of a young scientist who has made a major impact on synthetic biology and/or related fields. The award will be presented at the Synthetic Biology: Engineering, Evolution & Design (SEED) conference, June 3-7, 2018, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Wong completed his Bachelors of Science in Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and then went on to earn his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles. His areas of interest include synthetic and systems biology in immune cells, and the Wilson Wong Lab seeks to develop the next generation of smart cancer therapy with synthetic biology. In 2016, Wong received the National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award for his proposal “Deciphering temporal events in mammalian cells using synthetic biology.” In 2013, he received the prestigious National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director’s New Innovator Award.
