The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS Publications) is pleased to announce that Professor Bradley S. Moore, of the University of California, San Diego, USA, will be appointed as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Natural Products, which reports on the chemistry and biochemistry of naturally occurring compounds or the biology of the living systems from which these natural products are obtained.

Beginning in 2025, Professor Moore will helm the journal, building on the successful leadership of Professor Philip J. Proteau, who has served as Editor-in-Chief since 2020. The Journal of Natural Products is published in collaboration with the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP) and has communicated substantial and scholarly contributions to the area of natural products research since it was established with its current title in 1979.

"As a passionate natural product scientist, I'm thrilled and humbled to serve as the next Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Natural Products,” said Professor Moore. “I look forward to working with an excellent team of editors to broaden the journal's impact, scope, and community to celebrate the many scientific disciplines involving nature's chemical products."

Professor Moore has served as an Associate Editor of Organic Letters since 2019, and on that journal’s Editorial Advisory Board for ten years prior. He has also been recognized with numerous prestigious awards throughout his career, including the Ernest Guenther Award in the Chemistry of Natural Products and Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award from ACS.

“We’re delighted to have Professor Moore join the Journal of Natural of Products as its next Editor-in-Chief and build on his record of excellence within ACS journals,” said ACS Publications Senior Vice President and Chief Publishing Officer Sarah Tegen, Ph.D. “Between his passionate vision for the journal and his deep well of experience, he will be a great leader for this foundational journal.”

Professor Moore is the Director of the Scripps Center for Oceans and Human Health at the University of California, San Diego, USA, where he is also a Distinguished Professor of Marine Chemical Biology in the Scripps Institution of Oceanography and a Distinguished Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.

He earned his B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Hawaii, USA, and his Ph.D. degree in Bioorganic Chemistry from the University of Washington, USA.
