This two-day event, held in Beijing from August 28-29, 2025, brought together 24 leading researchers, emerging scholars, and over 500 registrations from 7 countries to exchange insights at the cutting edge of chemistry and biology.

Following our successful event in 2018 in collaboration with Peking University and Tsinghua University, ACS Publications was pleased to have the ACS Publications Symposium: Frontiers at the Chemistry and Biology Interface return to Beijing in 2025. The symposium featured ACS biological portfolio journals and a distinguished lineup of keynote and invited speakers, including five ACS journal Editors-in-Chief:
- Professor Carolyn Bertozzi
Nobel Laureate and Editor-in-Chief, ACS Central Science - Professor Christopher Chang
Editor-in-Chief, Accounts of Chemical Research - Professor Shawn Chen
Editor-in-Chief, ACS Nano Medicine - Professor Huimin Zhao
Editor-in-Chief, ACS Synthetic Biology - Professor Zijian Guo
Editor-in-Chief, Chemical & Biomedical Imaging

Beyond the keynote talks, the symposium placed a strong spotlight on young scientists. A lively poster session gave early-career researchers a platform to share their work, with 10 poster awards presented in recognition of originality, rigor, and outstanding communication.

The symposium also featured two panel discussions that offered participants practical insights beyond scientific research. The first one focused on publishing and career development, where panelists shared their experiences in building a professional reputation and strategies for successful publications. Another one was the exploration of cutting-edge science at the interface of chemistry and biology, where we see chemistry and biology converging more closely than ever, with fields such as chemical biology, synthetic biology, biochemistry, and biomaterials poised to transform how we diagnose disease, develop therapies, and create sustainable solutions for the planet.

The symposium’s success was made possible by the enthusiastic engagement of speakers, participants, and partners, reaffirming the importance of global collaboration in advancing science at this exciting frontier.
