The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Zhejiang University, China are proud to announce a collaboration to launch Chem & Bio Engineering, a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that will publish significant advances addressing the emerging challenges of developing efficient and sustainable solutions in areas such as manufacturing, energy, environmental stewardship, and healthcare.

ACS and Zhejiang University are excited to strengthen their relationship by working together to make Chem & Bio Engineering a premier journal for chemical and biological engineers to share and discuss innovative, inspirational research. The journal will feature diverse content types including research articles, letters, reviews, perspectives, viewpoints, commentaries, and editorials.

“We have witnessed a surge in pioneering research in the field of chemical and biological engineering, providing numerous solutions for building a more efficient, cleaner, and sustainable world,” said President Jiangfeng Du, Ph.D., of Zhejiang University. “It is with immense pleasure that Zhejiang University partners with ACS to launch Chem & Bio Engineering.”

“Leveraging the outstanding publishing platform of ACS, we hope to work together with colleagues worldwide to establish Chem & Bio Engineering as a flagship journal within the chemical and biological engineering community. I sincerely wish for a productive and enduring partnership between ACS and Zhejiang University.”

Chem & Bio Engineering will be led by inaugural Editor-in-Chief Qilong Ren, Ph.D., a Qiushi-Distinguished Professor at Zhejiang University in China and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Professor Ren has a distinguished career in academic research and engineering practice in the field of chemical separation.

“A shared aspiration of our society is to create and manufacture chemicals and materials in a green and efficient manner. Chemical engineering and biological engineering are two powerful and complementary tools at our disposal to tackle the challenges we face in this endeavor,” said Professor Ren. “Chem & Bio Engineering was brought forth in response to this incentive. I am excited to be the founding editor-in-chief and hope this journal will establish itself as a go-to hub for researchers from both fields to share new ideas and groundbreaking research findings.”

“We are delighted to partner with Zhejiang University to create a new preeminent journal in the field of chemical and biological engineering,” said ACS Publications President James Milne, Ph.D. We look forward to working together closely to ensure the success of Chem & Bio Engineering, and we believe this journal will be a wonderful addition to our world-class scientific portfolio at ACS Publications.”

The new journal will begin accepting submissions in August of 2023 and will publish its first issue in the Spring of 2024. Learn more about Chem & Bio Engineering.
