Since 2015, the ACS Industrial Forum has provided a platform for outstanding industrial scientists to network and share knowledge. This year, held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on May 14, the forum convened thought leaders from industry and academia around the world to discuss innovative planning for the chemical and chemical engineering industry, with an emphasis on sustainability and artificial intelligence.
This event underscored the importance of sustainable practice that can be carried out in the industry culture. Dr. Elaine Hsiao, Chief Technology Officer at LCY Chemical Corp., shared her insights in building an R&D culture that catalyze innovation and collaboration.
Following Dr. Hsiao, Professor Jun Kikuchi, from RIKEN Center for Sustainable Resource Science, Environmental Metabolic Analysis Research Team, gave a presentation on computational and data science approach for material design and analytical prediction.
Professor Bing Joe Hwang, Associate Editor of ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering and professor at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology discussed research trends in sustainable electrochemical devices and processes.
Finally, Dr. Zi-Yu Liu from Industrial Technology Research Institute shared her years of experience in helping small- and medium-sized chemistry businesses in adopting AI, as well as the common challenges they face.
In addition to the outstanding thought leaders from the industry, Dr. Meng Li, ACS Senior Managing Editor, presented a suite of ACS Publications that support the topics covered at the event.
