ACS Chemical Neuroscience Editor-in-Chief Craig W. Lindsley was recently elected Chair of the Pharmaceutical Science Section at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
“It’s a true honor to be able to represent my fellow drug discovery scientists as Chair-elect of the AAAS Pharmaceutical Sciences section, and advance our mission to improve human health through the transforming power of chemistry,” said Lindsley.
Each year, AAAS members have the opportunity to elect leadership for their 24 scientific sections. 2017 elections were held from October 24 to November 22, 2017. His term as the elected chair will begin on February 20, 2018.
Lindsley is the William K. Warren, Jr. Chair in Medicine at Vanderbilt University, and the Co-Director and Director of Medicinal Chemistry at the Vanderbilt Center for Neuroscience Drug Discovery in Nashville, Tennessee. His research focuses on the development of novel treatment strategies for schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Fragile X Syndrome and other brain disorders. In addition, his academic lab is focused on teaching the basic tenants of organic chemistry (synthetic methods, total synthesis, chemical biology) and then apply these skills to translational science problems.
