Three smokestacks from a power plant releasing pollution and smoke into the air

The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is pleased to announce the launch of ACS ES&T Air, a cutting-edge new journal that will publish novel and globally relevant original research on all aspects of air quality sciences and engineering.

ACS ES&T Air will focus on investigations of outdoor and indoor air chemistry and physics, air pollution, and climate change that impact human and ecosystem health—encompassing both laboratory and in situ measurements, remote sensing observations, as well as computational and modeling studies.

“We are delighted to welcome Professor Nga Lee (Sally) Ng, Ph.D., as the inaugural Editor-in-Chief of ACS ES&T Air,” said ACS Publications President James Milne, Ph.D. “Professor Ng has both the expertise and the passion to establish this journal at the very forefront of the latest advances in air chemistry research. This crucial and fast-moving research area, interfacing directly to human and environmental health and climate change, is a vital addition to the impactful Environmental Science & Technology portfolio of journals.”

Professor Ng is the Love Family Professor in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.

"ACS ES&T Air launches at a time when air composition and chemistry are rapidly changing worldwide with major transitions in energy systems, infrastructure, and land use, accompanied by profound impacts on climate, human health, and ecosystems,” said Professor Ng.

“The journal will be a premier forum for air researchers across multiple disciplines to share their most significant research findings, advance science, and drive new discoveries and better solutions. I am deeply honored to serve as the founding Editor-in-Chief of ACS ES&T Air and am very excited to grow the journal into a leading outlet for all air-related research.”

The journal will begin accepting submissions on June 21, 2023, and will publish its first issue in January of 2024. Learn more about ACS ES&T Air.
