Environmental Science & Technology, Environmental Science & Technology Letters and the ACS Division of Environmental Chemistry are seeking nominations for the James J. Morgan ES&T Early Career Award. The award is named for the first Editor-in-Chief of Environmental Science & Technology, who took the helm of the journal at the age of 34. Dr. Morgan guided the journal throughout the first 12 years of its existence. This award recognizes the contributions of early career researchers who have led our field in new directions through creative, new ideas that are consistent with Morgan’s early contributions. In 2017, the award went to Professor Meagan S. Mauter of Carnegie Mellon University.
One early career researcher will receive the award based on research accomplishments impacting the disciplines covered by ES&T. Only authors eight years or less from receipt of their Ph.D. at the deadline for nominations for the Lectureship are eligible (e.g., nominees will have been awarded doctorates on August 1, 2009, or later).
Check out the nomination guidelines for more information.
Nominations should be formatted in this order in one single pdf file. Separate files will not be accepted for nominations.
Nominations remain in the database for three award cycles. If the nominee is not named the recipient, the nomination will automatically rollover to the next award cycle, as long as the nominee is still eligible based on years since receipt of their Ph.D. Nominators are encouraged to update their on-file nominations if applicable.
The winner will be announced in September 2017. The award will be presented at the Spring 2018 ACS National Meeting in New Orleans at a symposium featuring the awardee.
