Call For Papers: Atmospheric Chemistry from Fundamental Kinetics to the Earth System: In Honor of Stanley P. Sander

This joint special Issue between ACS ES&T Air and The Journal of Physical Chemistry A will showcase experimental, theoretical and modeling work spanning the many scientific fields to which Stanley Sander made pioneering and lasting contributions. Stan sought to deepen our understanding of the composition of the atmospheres of Earth and other planets; his work encompassed gas phase chemistry and field measurements supported by atmospheric modeling and quantum calculations. He was an outstanding experimentalist with a keen interest in new developments in spectroscopic instrumentation for monitoring of air quality, greenhouse gases, and air pollution chemistry, as well as the atmospheres of other planets. We solicit papers on topics that reflect his legacy, including laboratory physical chemistry, gas-phase chemical kinetics, photochemistry, spectroscopy, theoretical chemistry, atmospheric chemistry, and planetary atmospheres. We also welcome manuscripts on spectroscopic instrumentation, field measurements, heterogeneous atmospheric reactions, and atmospheric simulations.

• Atmospheric chemistry of Earth and planetary bodies
• Laboratory studies of chemical kinetics, reaction mechanisms, and spectroscopy
• Development and application of spectroscopic instrumentation and analytical techniques
• Field measurements, remote sensing, and atmospheric simulations
• Theoretical and computational chemistry relevant to atmospheric processes
• Air quality, atmospheric composition, and pollution chemistry

Accepted manuscripts for consideration in this Special Issue will include all manuscript types available in both journals. Papers accepted for publication in this Special Issue will be available ASAP (as soon as publishable) online as soon as they are accepted, and then published in the next available issue. After all submissions have been published, they will then be compiled online on a dedicated landing page to form the Special Issue. Manuscripts submitted for consideration will undergo the full rigorous peer review process expected from ACS journals.
