The ACS Applied Materials family of journals will publish the second “Early Career Forum” in 2024. This joint forum (partial special issue) will feature invited papers from early career scientists working in all areas of materials science, with a particular focus on applications. This is a continuation of the very successful first volume of “Early Career Forum” published in 2022. We define an early career scientist as someone who is within 10 years of receiving their first independent career appointment.

We aim to honor and showcase the work of outstanding early career researchers for the new perspective, expertise, and knowledge they bring to the broader materials science community through contributions to the eight journals in the ACS Applied Materials family.

Here is a complete list of the eight participating journals:

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces

ACS Applied Energy Materials

ACS Applied Nano Materials

ACS Applied Bio Materials

ACS Applied Electronic Materials

ACS Applied Polymer Materials

ACS Applied Optical Materials

ACS Applied Engineering Materials

We cordially invite everyone to nominate early career researchers in all areas of application-oriented materials science. You are encouraged to self-nominate if you qualify as an early career researcher according to our definition.

The deadline for nomination is April 30, 2023.

Please note that while we hope to feature as many deserving researchers as possible, we may not be able to accommodate all the nominations we receive.

If you have any questions, please contact Laura Fernandez, and Chengmei Zhong (managing-editor@ami.acs.org)

We look forward to your nominations!
