This Special Issue will showcase cutting-edge innovations in 2D materials design, synthesis, characterization, and modeling with a particular focus on device-relevant research. Submit your manuscript by May 31, 2027.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials have emerged as one of the most exciting classes of materials in modern science and engineering. Since the isolation of graphene, the family of 2D materials has expanded to include transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), hexagonal boron nitride, MXenes, black phosphorus, and numerous van der Waals heterostructures, offering a rich spectrum of electrical, optical, magnetic, and mechanical properties. Their atomically thin nature, tunable band structures, large surface-to-volume ratios, and compatibility with heterogeneous integration have positioned them as promising candidates for next-generation electronic, optoelectronic, sensing, energy, and quantum devices.
This Special Issue at ACS Materials Letters will showcase cutting-edge innovations in 2D materials design, synthesis, characterization, and modeling, with a particular focus on device-relevant research. Contributions will explore both fundamental understanding and practical challenges related to scalable fabrication, interface engineering, and device reliability.
