In 2026, ACS Applied Nano Materials will publish a Special Issue, “Biomedical Imaging Contrast Agents,” which will aim to showcase recent research advances on nanomaterials for biomedical imaging and radiology related research.

Nanomaterials have significantly enhanced biomedical imaging and radiology over the past 10-20 years by serving as highly tunable, multifunctional contrast agents (e.g., nanoparticles, quantum dots, nanogels) that boost sensitivity, specificity, and multimodal imaging capabilities across MRI, CT, PET, fluorescence, photoacoustic, ultrasound platforms and others.

Topics for consideration include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and Synthesis of Novel Contrast Agents
  • Mechanistic Studies and Physicochemical Properties
  • Targeted and Smart Imaging Approaches
  • Applications in Disease Diagnosis and Monitoring
  • Imaging Modalities and Technological Integration
  • Safety, Toxicology, and Regulatory Considerations
  • Emerging and Future Directions

Do you have a research report to include? Submit your manuscript by November 30, 2025.
