This Special Issue will showcase cutting-edge research at the intersection of materials science and sustainable agriculture. Submit your manuscript by September 1, 2025.

With global food demand rising and climate change stressing resources, material innovations emerge to support sustainable agriculture. These innovations can enhance resource efficiency and increase resilience against drought, pests, and soil degradation. By integrating principles of materials science into agronomy, sustainable agriculture can achieve higher yields with a lower ecological footprint.
This Special Issue from ACS Materials Letters aims to showcase cutting-edge research at the intersection of materials science and sustainable agriculture. It will serve as a platform for interdisciplinary findings that advance water retention in soils, enhance soil health, improve crop growth and protection, self-controlled water irrigation, and boost seed performance, all contributing to highly efficient agricultural practices.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Bio-based and biodegradable materials for soil health
- Nanomaterials for sustainable crop production
- Polymeric soil conditioners and hydrogels for water management and irrigation
- Advanced seed coating technologies: Polymer and bio-polymer seed coatings
- Fertilizer and pesticide delivery for enhanced crop yield and protection
- Sensor-integrated systems for smart agriculture
Submit your manuscript by September 1, 2025.
