Submit your nomination by December 1, 2025.

The ACS Applied Materials family of journals will publish the third “Early Career Special Issue” in 2026. This joint special issue will feature invited papers from early career scientists working in all areas of materials science, with a particular focus on applications. This is a continuation of the very successful first and second volume of the “Early Career Special Issue” published in 2022 and 2024. We define an early career scientist as someone who is within 10 years of receiving their first independent career appointment.

We aim to honor and showcase the work of outstanding early career researchers for the new perspective, expertise, and knowledge they bring to the broader materials science community through contributions to the eight journals in the ACS Applied Materials family.

Here is a complete list of the eight participating journals:

We cordially invite everyone to nominate early career researchers in all areas of application-oriented materials science. You are encouraged to self-nominate if you qualify as an early career researcher according to our mentioned criterion.

The deadline for nomination is December 1, 2025

Please note that while we hope to feature as many deserving researchers as possible, we will not be able to accommodate all the nominations we receive. As a result, the editorial teams of the participating journals will review all nominations, and invitations for submissions will be sent out to those selected.

If you have any questions, please contact Paulomi Majumder.

We look forward to your nomination!
