The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry is accepting submissions for the Special Issue "Advances and Challenges in DMPK in Drug Discovery." This Special Issue will highlight cutting-edge research and emerging innovations that are shaping the future of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics in drug discovery.

We welcome contributions that advance the fundamental science underlying DMPK, address persistent challenges in translating preclinical findings to clinical outcomes, and provide new approaches to improving the discovery, optimization, and development of therapeutics. Through these contributions, the Special Issue aims to showcase scientific advances that are expanding the impact of DMPK across modern drug discovery and development.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Metabolic enzymes, biomarkers, and metabolism prediction
  • Drug transporters and mechanisms of drug disposition
  • PBPK, quantitative pharmacology, and AI-enabled DMPK
  • Advanced experimental and microphysiological model systems
  • Drug-drug interactions, metabolite characterization, and translational DMPK
  • DMPK challenges and optimization strategies for novel therapeutic modalities

For more information, please read the accompanying Editorial. Submit your manuscript by April 30, 2027.
