This Special Issue aims to honor Robert E. W. Hancock’s legacy by showcasing research that builds upon his pioneering contributions. Submit your manuscript by December 1, 2025.

Robert E. W. Hancock is a distinguished Canadian microbiologist and immunologist, renowned for his extensive research on antibiotic resistance and host defense peptides. He is currently a Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia and Director of the Centre for Microbial Diseases and Immunity Research. He is one of the pioneer researchers on outer membrane permeability, antimicrobial resistance, and host defense peptides.
ACS Infectious Diseases invites you to submit your work to this Special Issue which aims to honor Robert E. W. Hancock’s legacy. During his career, he has published over 800 articles and 72 patents, along with guiding numerous young researchers in the field. With this Call for Papers, we want to celebrate this immense body of work, dedicated to honoring his extraordinary career and celebrating the lasting influence of his work.

We welcome submissions for this Special Issue through December 1, 2025. For more information on submission requirements, please visit the journal’s Author Guidelines page.
Accepted manuscripts for consideration in this Special Issue will include research articles, letters, reviews, and perspectives and viewpoints (by invitation only). Papers accepted for publication for this Special Issue will be available ASAP (as soon as publishable) online. After all submissions have been published, they will then be compiled online on a dedicated landing page to form the Special Issue. Manuscripts submitted for consideration will undergo the full rigorous peer review process expected from ACS journals.
