The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters will publish a joint Virtual Special Issue celebrating the breadth of medicinal chemistry from across the globe. Submit your manuscript by April 30, 2024.
A 2022 report from the American Chemical Society analyzed the demographics of the ACS publication community, with a focus on the location of the corresponding authors affiliation.1 Across the biological and medicinal chemistry field 32% of publications come from groups in East Asia and the Pacific, 31% from the United States and Canada, 21% from Europe and Central Asia, and 8% from South Asia. However, there is incredible depth in medicinal chemistry research across the globe and we want to use this Virtual Special Issue to capture the research being done globally in both academic institutions and industry.
We are launching a joint Virtual Special Issue with the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry and ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters, “Many Faces of Medicinal Chemistry”, spearheaded by Lori Ferrins (Northeastern University) and Ashley Adams (Exscientia). The goal of this special issue is to advance knowledge and stimulate new collaborations and research directions in our interconnected scientific sphere. For more information, we encourage prospective authors to read our joint Editorial on the topic.

Submission Instructions
To submit for this special issue:
- Log in to the ACS Paragon Plus submission site and choose Journal of Medicinal Chemistry or ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters
- Select your manuscript type, and, under "Special Issue Selection," choose "Many Faces of Medicinal Chemistry."
Please see Author Guidelines for either Journal of Medicinal Chemistry or ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters for more information on submission requirements. For this cross-thematic issue, the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry will publish Perspectives, Articles, and Drug Annotations. ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters welcomes Letters, Notes, Technical Notes, and Viewpoints. Manuscripts will cover all trending topics in medicinal chemistry and medicinal chemistry technologies including a focus on interdisciplinary works.
Manuscripts will still show structure−activity and structure-property relationship studies using state-of-the-art medicinal chemistry and bioassay technologies, and those that detail the combination of carefully tuned reactivity with specific complementarity to the target are strongly encouraged.
The deadline for submissions is April 30, 2024.
