This Virtual Special Issue will showcase cutting-edge research in the field of new vaccine adjuvant discovery and development. Submit your manuscript by February 29, 2024.
Vaccines have played a major role in preventing and controlling infectious diseases, but lack of an appropriate adjuvant has hindered development of effective, new vaccines. Vaccine adjuvants enhance the magnitude and specificity of antibody responses to vaccine antigens. A sudden boost in vaccine development during the COVID-19 pandemic has benefited the adjuvant research field.
Many emerging concepts in new vaccine adjuvant design and development for use in vaccines have been showcased by researchers with great success. Several aspects are involved in appropriate adjuvant design including disease mechanisms as they relate to protection, immune response capabilities, and route of administration. These next generation adjuvants termed ‘immune potentiators’ are the future of new and improved vaccines.
To highlight advances in this exciting topic, ACS Medicinal Chemistry Letters and Journal of Medicinal Chemistry are launching a joint Virtual Special Issue to publish early 2024. In this collection of manuscripts, we aim to showcases the latest developments in the field of medicinal chemistry and the development of vaccine adjuvants. Authors can choose which journal to submit their manuscript depending on the focus of the journal.
