This Special Issue will highlight recent advances on the various aspects of peptide therapeutics. Submit your manuscript by August 31, 2025.

Peptide Protein structure with biological concept, 3d rendering in various shades of orange

Traditionally, most therapeutic drugs were based on small molecules, however, due to their limitations, it has been necessary to find alternatives drugs. Peptide-based drugs have emerged as a promising solution due to their unique physicochemical properties, high potency and selectivity, lower immunogenicity, flexible backbone, relatively cheap production costs, etc. There are several peptide-based drugs available on the market to treat a myriad of conditions including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, infections, central nervous system disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, and dermatological, and hematological disorders.

The Journal of Medicinal Chemistry is opening submissions for a Special Issue on “Peptide Therapeutics”. The goal of this Special Issue is to highlight novel research in this field in the form of articles, perspectives, and drug annotations.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Rational design of peptides
  • Peptidomimetics and chemical modifications of the natural amino acids
  • Composite peptide-based therapeutics
  • Drug delivery
