The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS Publications) is pleased to announce that Professor Suzie H. Pun, of the University of Washington, United States, has been appointed as Editor-in-Chief of ACS Nano Medicine.

ACS Nano Medicine is a peer-reviewed hybrid journal that publishes significant research breakthroughs in applying nanoscience and nanotechnology for clinical diagnosis and development of therapeutics. The journal welcomes studies that not only advance nanoscale science but also illuminate the biological, engineering, and regulatory parameters essential for real-world impact.

Professor Pun became Editor-in-Chief on April 1, 2026, succeeding Interim Editor-in-Chief Professor Dipanjan Pan, who has ably guided the journal to its inaugural issue published earlier this year.

“It’s my pleasure to welcome Professor Pun as the Editor-in-Chief of ACS Nano Medicine, a newer journal that’s already serving as a home for nanomedicine researchers,” said ACS Publications Senior Vice President and Chief Publishing Officer Sarah Tegen. “Professor Pun brings significant research and editorial experience combined with a drive for results and excellence, and I’m confident she will guide ACS Nano Medicine to become a leading platform for advancing nanomedicine research.”

Professor Pun is the Washington Research Foundation Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Washington, where she also directs the Molecular Engineering and Sciences Institute. She served as an Associate Editor for ACS Biomaterials Science and Engineering from 2016-2025 and sits on the Editorial Boards for several scholarly journals.

“It is a tremendous honor to take this role for our field. I hope that ACS Nano Medicine will become the premier forum for scientists and engineers working in nanomedicine, biologics development and delivery, and therapeutic applications of synthetic biology to publish their work,” said Professor Pun. “Publications are a very important way for our community to share findings and move science forward and I am grateful to be in this role with my exceptional colleagues, Dipanjan Pan, Michelle Bradbury and Hui Wei.”

Professor Pun holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology. Before joining the faculty at University of Washington, she was one of the founding employees at Insert Therapeutics, which is now Calando Pharmaceuticals, a start-up company developing nanomedicine formulations for oncology applications. Her research focuses on polymeric, nucleic acid, and biomaterial platforms for therapeutic applications, with a particular emphasis on drug delivery.
