Conjugated molecules and polymers have emerged as an important class of functional materials for next-generation optoelectronic technologies, offering highly tunable electronic and optical properties, mechanical flexibility, and solution processability. Continued progress in molecular design, synthetic methods, and structural control is creating new opportunities in organic electronics, photonics, energy conversion, sensing, and related technologies.

Recent advances in the understanding of structure–property relationships have enabled researchers to tune charge transport, light absorption and emission, molecular organization, and interfacial behavior in these materials. At the same time, the development of flexible, lightweight, and solution-processable systems is expanding their potential use in flexible and wearable technologies, sensing, imaging, and other emerging molecular devices.

ACS Omega invites researchers to contribute to a Special Issue on “Conjugated Molecules and Polymers for Optoelectronic Applications.” The collection will highlight recent progress in the design and synthesis of conjugated molecular and polymeric systems, their assembly and characterization, and their integration into functional materials and devices. Particular emphasis will be placed on studies that provide original chemical insight into the relationship between molecular structure, organization, properties, and performance.

Topics Include, but Are Not Limited to:

  • Design and synthesis of conjugated molecules and polymers.
  • Functional molecular assemblies and supramolecular systems
  • Organic semiconductors and molecular electronics
  • Optoelectronic and photonic materials
  • Organic photovoltaics and light-emitting materials
  • Flexible and wearable electronic materials and devices
  • Energy conversion and storage applications of conjugated materials
  • Emerging applications in sensing, imaging, and molecular devices
