This Special Issue aims to highlight advances across organic, inorganic, and process chemistry that enable successful movement from laboratory research to industrial application. Submit your manuscript by October 30, 2026.

Modern chemical science increasingly focuses not only on discovery but also on translating these advances into processes that are robust, efficient, safe, and sustainable at scale. This Special Issue, “From Flask to Factory: Chemical Innovations That Scale,” hosted by ACS Organic & Inorganic Au, will demonstrate how advances in organic, inorganic, and process chemistry translate into tangible improvements in industry.
We invite submissions of original research articles, methods papers, reviews, and case studies that showcase the successful transition of chemical innovations from the laboratory to industrial application. The issue aims to highlight work that connects fundamental research with practical, large-scale implementation.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Catalytic methodologies enabling scalable and efficient transformations
- Process development and optimization to enhance yield, robustness, and reproducibility
- Technological innovations in process chemistry that improve synthetic efficiency
- Green and sustainable approaches, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and safer reagents
- Safety advancements and hazard mitigation in scale-up
- Industrial case studies, including both successes and challenges
- Technology transfer from bench to plant, including scale-up strategies and troubleshooting
- Academic–industry collaborations that accelerate innovation and adoption
We particularly encourage contributions that provide quantitative insights into improvements in efficiency, environmental impact, cost, or process reliability, as well as those sharing practical lessons from development and scale-up.
