This Special Issue will showcase cutting-edge research focused on the mechanisms, control, and applications of carrier spin dynamics across a diverse range of materials. Submit your manuscript by September 30, 2026.

An Abstract digital illustration showing curved, glowing blue lines representing flowing data or signals against a dark background.

Carrier spin dynamics lies at the heart of modern condensed matter physics and materials science, bridging fundamental quantum phenomena with emerging technologies in spintronics, quantum information, and ultrafast optoelectronics. The manipulation and understanding of spin degrees of freedom in carriers—electrons and holes—within various material platforms has opened new pathways for designing devices that transcend the limitations of charge-based electronics.

This Special Issue at ACS Physical Chemistry Au will showcase cutting-edge research focused on the mechanisms, control, and applications of carrier spin dynamics across a diverse range of materials, including semiconductors, topological insulators, two-dimensional systems, and strongly correlated materials. We hope contributions will span experimental breakthroughs in ultrafast spin manipulation, theoretical insights into spin relaxation and decoherence, and novel approaches to spin injection and detection.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Spin Relaxation Mechanisms in Semiconductors
  • Ultrafast Spin Dynamics and Coherence
  • Spin Transport in Low-Dimensional Systems
  • Spin-Orbit Coupling and Spin Hall Effects
  • Carrier Spin Dynamics in Topological Materials
  • Spin Injection and Detection Techniques
  • Spin Dynamics in Organic and Hybrid Materials
  • Magnetism and Spin Dynamics in 2D Materials
  • Spin-Dependent Carrier Recombination
  • Theoretical Models and Computational Approaches to Carrier Spin Dynamics
  • Spin Dynamics Under External Fields
  • Spin-Based Quantum Information Processing
  • Spin Caloritronics and Thermally Driven Spin Transport
  • Spin Dynamics in Strongly Correlated Systems
  • Device Applications and Spintronic and Opto-spintronic Architectures

Submit your manuscript by September 30, 2026.
