Call for Papers: Future Leaders in Physical Chemistry

This upcoming Special Issue in The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters will highlight early career researchers engaging in the forefront of physical chemistry research. Eligible researchers should be currently appointed as a Principal Investigator or equivalent and have received their Ph.D. no more than 12 years ago. We invite submissions in all areas of physical chemistry, which spans the entire scope of the journal. Submit your manuscript by December 31, 2025.

All eligible papers that are submitted to the Special Issue that are accepted will be published as part of the Special Issue. A subset of these papers will be chosen by the editors of The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters as the winners of the Future Leaders in Physical Chemistry recognition.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

• Physical insights into Quantum Phenomena and Function
• Physical insights into Materials and Molecular Properties
• Physical insights into Light Interacting with Matter
• Physical insights into the Biosphere, Atmosphere, and Space
• Physical insights into Chemistry, Catalysis, and Interfaces
• Physical insights into Energy Science

Submission Information

We welcome submissions for this Special Issue through December 31, 2025. For more information on submission requirements, please visit the journal’s Author Guidelines page.

Authors are welcome to submit any Letter, Perspective Article, or Mini-Review that fits within the scope of the Special Issue. If you are interested in submitting a Perspective or Mini-Review, or if you have any general questions about a topic’s suitability, please send a presubmission inquiry to the Editor-in-Chief (eic@jpclett.acs.org).

Papers accepted for publication for this Special Issue will be available ASAP (as soon as publishable) online. After all submissions have been published, they will then be compiled online on a dedicated landing page to form the Special Issue. Manuscripts submitted for consideration will undergo the full rigorous peer review process expected from ACS journals.

How to Submit

• Log in to the ACS Publishing Center.
• Select the "Journals" tab.
• Choose The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters.
• Click "Submit."
• Select your manuscript type, and, under "Special Issue Selection," choose “Future Leaders in Physical Chemistry."
