Over a century of evolution in both academia and industry, polymers have profoundly reshaped the trajectory of human society. Today, polymer synthesis is undergoing a transformative shift, driven by a variety of emerging strategies that are enabling revolutionary breakthroughs. In light of these advances, we are pleased to present this Special Issue that focuses on the development and innovation of novel synthetic methodologies for polymer science and technology.

We invite submissions of Viewpoints, Perspectives, Letters, Articles, and Reviews on all topics relevant to polymer synthesis methodologies, including, but not limited to:

  • Novel Synthetic Methodologies: Innovations and mechanistic studies of various synthetic methods, including ionic polymerizations, radical polymerizations, or coordination polymerization, as well as skeletal editing or other post-polymerization methods.
  • Sequence Control and Precision Synthesis: Novel strategies for achieving precise control over polymer architecture, sequence, and functionality.
  • Green and Sustainable Polymers: This encompasses the use of renewable monomers, the development of low-energy, metal-/catalyst-free, and solvent-free processes, and the design of recyclable and (bio)degradable polymers.

Submission Information

Submissions are welcome through October 31, 2026. Submissions except Viewpoints will be peer reviewed prior to acceptance to ensure they meet the high scientific publishing standards of Polymer Science & Technology. The peer review process for all papers will be managed by the journal editors to ensure rigor is maintained. If accepted, publications will go online as soon as possible and be published in the next available issue. Publications on this topic will be gathered into a virtual issue and widely promoted as significant contributions to this research area.

Polymer Science & Technology is a fully open access journal; thus, your paper will be available to anyone, at anytime, anywhere in the world. However, APCs will be automatically waived for all articles submitted by December 31, 2027 if they are accepted after peer review.
