On February 4, 2019, Dr. Thomas M. Connelly, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the American Chemical Society (ACS), and Dr. Rajiv Kumar Tayal, Executive Director of The Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The MoU jointly establishes an IUSSTF-ACS Fellowship to nurture contacts between scientists and students from India and the United States and provide them with high-quality research experiences that promote a culture of innovation and scientific inquiry. Additionally, Bilateral Science & Technology Workshop Roundtables in India and/or the U.S. are bringing together Indian and U.S. scientists to discuss the role of chemistry in addressing key global challenges. They are exploring possible engagements, such as workshops, symposia, or other forums, to be led by both IUSSTF and ACS, that foster research & development, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The American Chemical Society was founded in 1876 and chartered by the U.S. Congress. It is the world’s largest scientific society. Its mission is to advance the broader chemistry enterprise and its practitioners for the benefit of Earth and its people. Its vision is to improve people’s lives through the transforming power of chemistry. The ACS is recognized by chemists around the world as a leading publisher of authoritative scientific information. ACS Publications’ 50+ peer-reviewed journals are ranked the “most-trusted, most-cited and most-read.” ACS empowers its members to advance chemistry, elevate their career potential, expand their networks, inspire future generations, collaborate globally and build communities that provide scientific solutions. ACS provides broader networks that facilitate connections and open doors in a way no other professional organization can match!
The Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum was established under an agreement between the Governments of India and the U.S. in March 2000. It is an autonomous bilateral organization jointly funded by both the Governments that promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Innovation through substantive interaction among government, academia, and industry. It acts as a catalyst to promote long-term scientific collaborations between India and the U.S. through partnerships amongst individual scientists, scientific institutions and the scientific community at large.
