Brazil flag on a wooden plank.

As of February 27, ACS Publications is proud to report that thousands of faculty and students throughout Brazil, served by the CAPES consortium, will have complete access to ACS journals. This five-year agreement will afford read access to all ACS journals. It will also afford researchers the ability to publish open access in any ACS journal without cost.

This agreement represents significant additional growth in read and publish coverage for Latin America and underscores ACS’s commitment to the scientific community and libraries in the region.

Offering ACS journals via the CAPES Portal is a priority for ACS Publications because it stands as one of Brazil's most important research infrastructures and is a global model of a consortium fully funded by the government, ensuring democratic and equitable access to global scientific information for students and researchers nationwide.

In the long term, ACS Publications and CAPES expects this agreement to be pivotal in accelerating research in Brazil, not only by supplying the most trusted journal content in the world, but by empowering authors from Brazil to expand visibility to their research through open access publishing.

In the transitional economy between open access and traditional publishing, ACS Publications is committed first and foremost to being an indispensable supplier of top-quality information that maintains the trust of the scientific community.
