ACS on Campus recently visited Singapore for the second time, and hosted two informative events at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). Students, researchers and faculty members attended a full-day program at the School of Physical & Mathematical Sciences, NTU and a scientific lecture at NanoBioLab, A*STAR.

The first day’s event at NTU featured presentations from distinguished speakers including Professor Paul S. Weiss, Editor-in-Chief of ACS Nano; Professor Nam-Joon Cho, Associate Professor, NTU; Dr. Jitesh Soares, Associate Publisher, Global Journals Development, ACS Publications; and Professor Mary Chan-Park, Associate Editor, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.

The program consisted of talks on “Global Opportunities for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology” from Professor Weiss, followed by “Translating Plant Pollen into Material Science Technology” from Professor Cho, and afterward a panel discussion on the “Top Ten Tips for Publishing with ACS Editors”.

After lunch, Professor Weiss presented on science communication, “How to Talk and Write About Your Research,” which was followed by student science presentations. The students eagerly communicated their research and findings with the ACS Editors.

The second day was a scientific lecture from Professor Weiss on the challenges, opportunities, and consequence of pursuing strategies in nanoscience and nanotechnology. The audiences found the Prof. Weiss’s talk to be of great benefit.

ACS on Campus would like to give a big thanks to our hosts, the NTU Library and NanoBioLab, the speakers, and our local distributor, InfoHost Singapore, for helping to organize these events with great success.
