These five new agreements make it even easier for the research community to access articles and publish their work in ACS Journals, further encouraging the transition towards a more inclusive and equitable global publishing system.
As of January 2024, thousands more faculty and students throughout Latin America have complete access to ACS journals, and the ability to publish open access without cost, through five new ACS read and publish agreements.
Covering four institutions in Mexico and one in Colombia, the agreements provide full reading access to more than 70 hybrid journals, and full coverage of open access article publishing charges for affiliated authors when their articles are published in any ACS journal. These institutions are:
- Centro de Investigacion y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politecnico Nacional (CINVESTAV), Mexico
- Universidad de las Americas Puebla, Mexico
- Universidad del Valle, Colombia
- Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM)
- Universidad Veracruzana, Mexico

These institutions join Instituto Tecnologico de Costa Rica, Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), and Universidad de Sonora to increase the coverage of read and publish agreements in Latin America; and a growing list of over 1,000 organizations participating in ACS read and publish agreements.
