June is here, and with it comes the celebration of Pride Month—a time to honor the resilience, inclusivity, and unity of the LGBTQ+ scientific community.

Home to the headquarters of the American Chemical Society (ACS), Washington, D.C., also holds one of the largest and most vibrant LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations in the United States. This year, the city is set to welcome an astonishing two million attendees as it hosts WorldPride, with celebrations including a parade, multiple festivals, and the iconic 17th Street Block Party.
ACS and ACS Publications first participated in the Capital Pride Parade in 2022 when staff, family, and friends marched in support of inclusivity in science. The Society has grown into a dynamic presence within the celebration, returning to Capital Pride with even greater enthusiasm in 2023 and 2024 to unveil our dazzling parade float. This vibrant display of energy, color, and excitement became a centerpiece of the event each year.

This year, we’re thrilled to participate again in Capital Pride on June 7 with a stunning new parade float and custom-designed T-shirts, all infused with the spirit of this year’s inspiring theme: The Fabric of Freedom. ACS Publications staff eagerly anticipate joining in this celebration of the threads that weave us all together.
Like ACS Publications, Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), a division of the American Chemical Society based in Columbus, Ohio, proudly champions Pride by supporting the Stonewall Columbus Pride March, set to take place on June 14.
ACS believes in the power of and respect for all chemists. Through visible support at Pride events and ongoing advocacy, ACS continues to embody its core value of Inclusion & Belonging by celebrating in support of the LGBTQ+ scientific community.
