Hear from members of the chemistry research community as they share their thoughts on open access and its importance in scholarly publishing.

As International Open Access Week draws to a close for another year, we wanted to reflect on what researchers like you think about open access.
In addition to our regular surveys sent to readers, authors, and reviewers, we also conduct regular focus groups and interviews with members of the chemistry research community.
Some of these interviews were held at ACS Fall 2023 in San Francisco (you can register for next year’s ACS Spring meeting in New Orleans here)—you’ll find some of the edited highlights below.
Why is open access important?
How does open access help collaboration?
How do read and publish agreements help chemistry?
If you have any thoughts on open access, or feedback on the OA publishing process, please feel free to contact us.
We hope you’ve enjoyed our articles and events for International Open Access Week 2023—we encourage you to register to access our webinar recordings here, and read all of this year's Axial coverage below.
