In the last few years, Langmuirhas been making a concerted effort to engage early career scientists. This includes sponsoring poster, young investigator and oral presentation awards at various conference and meetings, as well as last year’s Special Issue dedicated to Early Career Authors. The journal is now excited to announce the creation and call for members of the Early Career Advisory Board (ECAB).

About the Langmuir Early Career Advisory Board

The Langmuir ECAB aims to promote exchanges between scientists actively building their careers and Langmuir’s Senior Editors and Editorial Advisory Board members. Members will serve as guest editors of Special Issues on relevant topics and contribute to the creation of Virtual Issues. In addition, members will be asked to support the promotion of Langmuir by serving as Langmuir ambassadors when attending conferences and meetings and suggesting content for social media. Appointments to the Langmuir ECAB will be for two years.

Getting on (the) Board

We are looking to bring together a group representing diverse backgrounds, geographical locations, and subfields across interface and colloid science. Eligible applicants must be practicing scientists (academia, industry or national laboratories) that completed their Ph.D. after January 1, 2014.

Applications for joining the Langmuir ECAB must include:

  • Your CV
  • List of publications
  • A brief statement highlighting research interests and a description of why you are uniquely suited to join the Early Career Advisory Board
  • Two letters of recommendation

The application should be compiled into a single PDF with the exception of the letters of recommendation, which should be submitted directly by the referees.

For more information and/or to submit an application, please email managing-editor@langmuir.acs.org no later than April 30, 2019.
