This Virtual Special Issue will showcase the continued high-level contributions of industrial researchers to the development of new technology and applications for commercial products. Submit your manuscript by September 15, 2024.
Since 1909, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry, with variations in title and format, has been published by the American Chemical Society. To highlight the continued high-level contributions of industrial researchers to the development of new technology and applications for commercial products, Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research (I&ECR) is launching a Virtual Special Issue titled "2024 Industrial Research: From Lab to Commercialization."
This Virtual Special Issue will feature innovative engineering chemistry research addressing industrially relevant problems across the breadth of the journal’s scope. We seek contributions (1) featuring at least one industrial author, or (2) which are primarily funded through industrial sponsorship. We are particularly interested in contributions from industrially affiliated corresponding authors.
We invite contributions of Articles, Letters, Reviews or Perspectives on all topics within I&ECR’s scope, including (but not limited to):
- Thermodynamics
- Transport phenomena
- Chemical reaction kinetics and engineering
- Sustainability
- Catalysis
- Separations
- Process systems engineering
- Product research and development used to improve or create new catalysts, plastics, sorbents, membranes, and functional materials
Do you have a research report to include? Submit your manuscript by September 15, 2024.

Submission Information
We welcome submissions for this Special Issue through September 15, 2024.
Accepted manuscripts for consideration in this Special Issue will include Articles, Letters, Reviews or Perspectives. Papers accepted for publication for this Special Issue will be available ASAP (as soon as publishable) online as soon as they are accepted. After all submissions have been published, they will then be compiled online on a dedicated landing page to form the Special Issue. Manuscripts submitted for consideration will undergo the full rigorous peer review process expected from ACS journals.
Open Access
There are diverse open-access options for publications in American Chemical Society journals. Please visit our Open Science Resource Center for more information.
Safety Information in Journal Articles
Including a clear, articulate safety summary statement in your research is vital to ensuring that others who reproduce or expand upon your work can prepare for significant hazards and conduct their own methods as safely as possible. Read more about crafting safety statements in our ACS Axial post series.
