ACS Applied Polymer Materials announces a call for papers for a special issue dedicated to groundbreaking research and innovations from Latin American countries devoted to achieving sustainable development goals.

We also welcome submissions from Latin American researchers working abroad.

Polymer research is crucial for advancing sustainable solutions and addressing global challenges. By developing biobased and biodegradable polymers, researchers can reduce reliance on fossil fuels and minimize environmental impact. Innovations in polymeric blends, nanocomposites, and hybrid materials enhance the performance and functionality of products across various industries, from agriculture to healthcare. Additionally, polymers play a vital role in renewable energy systems and environmental remediation, contributing to water conservation, filtration, and ecosystem protection. Advances in polymer processing and engineering, such as 3D printing and digital manufacturing, enable more efficient and locally adapted production methods. Overall, polymer research drives progress towards a circular economy, fostering sustainable development and improving quality of life.

Articles in the following areas are welcome.

Sustainable Polymers and Circular Economy:

  • Biobased and biodegradable polymers
  • Recycling and life cycle analysis tailored to local contexts
  • Reverse logistics and waste management innovations

Biomedical and Biotechnological Applications:

  • Advances in tissue engineering, drug delivery systems, and healthcare applications
  • Biopolymers that are derived from local resources for medical use

Polymeric Blends, Nanocomposites, and Hybrid Materials:

  • Innovations in nanostructures, polymer blends, and multifunctional composites
  • Applications in agriculture, packaging, and lightweight structures

Energy and Environmental Applications:

  • Polymers for renewable energy systems and environmental remediation
  • Materials addressing water conservation, filtration, and ecosystem protection

Advances in Polymer Processing and Engineering:

  • 3D printing and digital manufacturing
  • Locally adapted polymer processing and industrial applications (case studies)

We invite researchers, scientists, and industry experts to submit their original research articles, reviews, and case studies that contribute to the advancement of these topics. Submissions should provide novel insights, practical applications, and innovative solutions that address current challenges and future directions in the field.
