The ACS Au community journals announce a new manuscript type, Tutorials. Submit a proposal for your own Tutorial covering new or unfamiliar methods and techniques, or advanced research topics.
Earlier this year, the ACS Au community journals introduced Tutorials as a new article type for publication. Tutorials aim to bridge the gap between what is learned in the textbook and how to apply this knowledge to cutting edge research in the field. These free-to-read user guides will help researchers, students, and instructors in advanced undergraduate and graduate courses to process complex methods, techniques, and research topics into digestible material.
Publishing a Tutorial offers authors a unique opportunity to share their tips, tricks, and how-to-guides with their fellow researchers. Because they are published open access in an ACS Au community journal, these articles are able to reach the widest audience possible and make an impact on fellow researchers.
Prior to offering Tutorials as an official article type, ACS Au community journals published several examples across a variety of disciplines. Their popularity prompted us to create a designated space for researchers to publish these educational resources as a way of serving their communities. Submission Information
Although many Tutorials are invited, if you are interested in submitting a Tutorial, please submit a short proposal to au-eic@journals.acs.org. For more information on submission requirements, please visit the relevant journal’s Author Guidelines page.
Tutorials accepted for publication will be available ASAP (as soon as publishable) online as soon as they are accepted. They will then be published in the next available issue of the submitted journal. Manuscripts submitted for consideration will undergo the full rigorous peer review process expected from ACS journals.

How to Submit
- Log in to the ACS Publishing Center.
- Choose the relevant journal.
- Click "Submit."
- Select Tutorials as the manuscript type.
