ACS Publications and CAS, divisions of the American Chemical Society, are recognized global leaders in the dissemination and publication of scientific research in Chemistry-related fields, as well as in providing cutting-edge scientific information solutions. Their mission is to connect data and insights from scientific research to help scientists around the world address the most pressing challenges facing humanity and the planet.

To support this mission, the ACS Publications and CAS teams in Brazil will host three special training sessions for the Brazilian scientific community during the second half of 2025. These webinars aim to introduce some of the most prominent emerging topics in the global scientific landscape and demonstrate how ACS’s scientific information tools and solutions can support researchers in understanding and tackling today’s major scientific challenges.

Participation is free, and the virtual sessions will be conducted in Portuguese. See the schedule below and secure your spot today.

Check out our schedule for the Second Semester of 2025:

Trends in Drug Discovery

Date: Wednesday, August 20, 2025
Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (Eastern Daylight Time)

Now available to view on demand!
This webinar will cover emerging topics gaining traction in medicinal chemistry. Examples include the use of artificial intelligence to predict bioactive molecules, molecular editing, and the application of green chemistry principles in drug synthesis. How can researchers find information on these subjects and apply it to their research? Learn directly from ACS journals and discover how to use the CAS BioFinder Discovery Platform™ to support your research.

Chemistry, Sustainability, and Climate Change

Date: Wednesday, September 3, 2025
Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (Eastern Daylight Time)

How can chemical sciences help mitigate the effects of climate change and lay the foundation for a greener society? This session will highlight key challenges scientists around the world are facing to ensure a more sustainable future for our planet in alignment with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Applications for Artificial Intelligence in Materials Science

Date: Wednesday, November 19, 2025
Time: 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM (Eastern Daylight Time)

Materials science is one of the most dynamic research fields, constantly evolving with global trends. This training will explore various applications of artificial intelligence (today’s most hyped tool) in the development of advanced materials and the prediction of their physical, chemical, and mechanical properties.

ACS Publications and CAS: A Fruitful and Successful Partnership in Brazil

Since October 2021, ACS Publications and CAS have been conducting these special training sessions in partnership with the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), a federal agency under the Ministry of Education of Brazil. The goal is to engage users from nearly 300 institutions affiliated with the CAPES Consortium, which provides access to our content through the CAPES Portal (Portal de Periódicos da CAPES). In doing so, Brazilian scientists are empowered to integrate the solutions offered by both ACS divisions to access reliable, high-quality scientific information.

Since the beginning of this initiative, eleven training sessions have been held, covering topics of great relevance to Brazilian science, such as: digital agriculture, biofuels and green hydrogen, plant-based meat preparation, solar cells, artificial intelligence in drug discovery, nanotechnology, antimicrobial resistance, among others. Altogether, these events have reached over 3,000 participants from all regions of Brazil. This number is an impressive figure that reflects the strong interest of the Brazilian scientific community in this type of event.

As the collaboration between ACS Publications, CAS, and CAPES keeps growing year by year, ACS’s presence in Brazil has become increasingly solid. We have established ourselves as trusted partners of the scientific community, reinforcing the credibility and prestige of our content. Since last year, we have broadened our reach in Brazil by signing the country’s first national-level transformative agreement and by making the CAS SciFinder Discovery Platform™ fully available through the CAPES Portal. Another milestone is that the consortium is the first in the world to gain access to the CAS BioFinder Discovery Platform™. The joint efforts of both ACS divisions were essential in making these agreements possible, further strengthening our partnerships in the country.
