Find out how ACS' new agreement with Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí is benefiting researchers in Panama.
ACS Publications' institutional open access agreements are also known as "read and publish" agreements, as they include reading access to ACS' full portfolio of subscription journals, as well as covering some or all of the pathways to open access for affiliated authors.
One of our most recent agreements was signed with Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí, Panama, following discussions earlier in the year. The agreement, that runs through June 2027, includes unlimited open access publishing for researchers at UNACHI during that period.
At the university's event marking this initiative, Dr. Pedro González (Vice Chancellor of Research and Postgraduate Research, UNACHI) said:
("With the collaborative agreement (ACS read and publish agreement) between the Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí (UNACHI) and the American Chemical Society, we have a historic milestone for academia and research since this agreement allows students, teachers and administrators of the University to have access to countless high-impact publications. The American Chemical Society is the most impactful publisher worldwide in science and technology. And today the Universidad Autónoma de Chiriquí has signed this agreement. We are going to have a strengthened research environment.")
A day after the celebration, we also had the opportunity to speak with several other researchers at UNACHI during the 2024 Congreso Latinoamericano de Química (CLAQ) in Panama City, Panama. Watch the video below to learn more:
