The Publications Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS) is pleased to announce that its portfolio of over 90 trusted, peer-reviewed journals was recognized in the Journal Citation Reports (Clarivate, 2026) with a median 2025 Journal Impact Factor™ of 5.5. This median score rose by 8.9% from the prior year, demonstrating the increasing influence and impact of ACS journals, which were cited over 5.1 million times in 2025.

The Journal Impact Factor™ (JIF) is a metric which provides a measure of how often an average article in each journal was cited within a specific time window. The strong median score demonstrates that, as a cohort, ACS Publications journals remain the leading home for the most relevant scientific research.

“We’re honored by the trust of the scientific community and the authors who publish their essential work in ACS journals where they know it can have the greatest impact,” said ACS Publications Vice President of Global Editorial Strategy, Teo Pulvirenti, Ph.D. “I’m proud of the efforts of our editors and staff whose dedication to excellence is reflected in the continued growth in citations across our portfolio, reinforcing ACS journals as the most trusted, most cited, and most read journals in the chemical and related sciences.”

JACS, the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JIF 16.6), saw its 2025 Journal Impact Factor™ rise by 6.4% as it maintained its position as the most cited journal in chemistry, with 628,967 citations in 2025.

The journal Chemical Reviews (JIF 64.2) achieved the highest 2025 Journal Impact Factor™ in chemistry with an increase of 15.1% from last year, and ACS Measurement Science Au (JIF 14.7) achieved the highest 2025 Journal Impact Factor™ in analytical chemistry with an increase of 63.3% from last year.

In addition, Chem & Bio Engineering (JIF 8.4) — an ACS partner journal, published in collaboration with Zhejiang University, China — received its inaugural Journal Impact Factor™ this year, with articles published during the first year of the journal attracting 883 citations.

ACS Publications presents a range of metrics to help authors understand the full reach, impact, and influence of ACS journals. By accessing citation, usage, and peer review metrics for journals across the growing ACS portfolio, authors can better choose the most suitable home for their research.

Researchers can continue to trust ACS Publications’ record of excellence as its portfolio of journals expands with the addition of Environmental Health Perspectives (JIF 10.9) earlier this year, as well as new journals such as ACS Applied Catalysis, ACS ES&T Toxicology, and Digital Medical Engineering. These journals expand and enhance the portfolio to offer new homes for impactful and influential science that can improve all lives through the transforming power of chemistry.
